Ten minutes later, after receiving another text from Alex, I walked into the lobby of The Veil, which was one of the newer five-star hotels on the strip. Apparently, Jeremy Strom’s car had just pulled into the parking ramp of the hotel, which was nowhere near Freemont’s, the nightclub where he was supposed to be.

As I made my way to the front desk to find out if he’d checked in, I found myself crossing paths with the man himself. And, he wasn’t alone. Jeremy was with some blonde who wore a smug, smile and a diamond necklace that probably cost more than my car. Noting that Jeremy had his arm around her waist and was guiding her toward the hotel bar, Monty’s, I knew my job there wouldn’t take too long.

Pulling out my cell phone again, I followed them toward the entrance when someone stepped in front of me.

“Excuse me,” I said, trying to walk around the stranger, not really paying much attention.

“You’re going to need to come with me,” said a deep voice, grabbing my forearm.
